As a wise man once said, ¡°You must dream big dreams, for only big dreams have the power to move the minds of men.¡± When you begin to dream big dreams, your levels of self-esteem and self-confidence will go up immediately. A powerful principle that you can use to dream big dreams and live without limits is contained in what Elihu Goldratt calls the ¡°Theory of Constraints.¡± This is one of the greatest breakthroughs in modern thinking. °·ÂÇÑ ¿øÄ¢ÀûÀ¸·Î ±× Å« ²ÞÀ» ²Þ°ú ÇѰ谡¾øÀÌ´Â »ì Elihu Goldratt "Á¦¾à ÀÌ·Ð."À̰ÍÀº ÇϳªÀÇ »ý°¢¿¡¼ ÃÖ°í¿¡ µµ´ÞÇØÀÖ´Â Çö´ëÀÇ ¾î¶² ÅëÈ¿¡ Æ÷ÇÔµÈ »ç¿ëÇÒ ¼öÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù. What Goldratt has found is that in every process, in accomplishing any goal, there is a bottleneck or choke cord that serves as a constraint on the process. ¹«¾ùÀ» ¹ß°ßÇß´Ù Goldratt ¸ðµç °úÁ¤¿¡¼ ¾î¶² ¸ñÇ¥¸¦ ´Þ¼º¿¡´Â º´¸ñ ¶Ç´Â Áú½Ä ±× °úÁ¤¿¡ ´ëÇÑ Á¦¾àÀ¸·Î ÅÈÁÙÀÌ´Ù. This constraint then sets the speed at which you achieve any particular goal. ÀÌ Á¦¾àÀÌ ´ÙÀ½¿¡ ¾î¶² ƯÁ¤ ¸ñÇ¥¸¦ ´Þ¼º ¼Óµµ¸¦ Á¶ÀýÇÕ´Ï´Ù.
What Goldratt found is that if you concentrate all of your creative energies and attention on alleviating the constraint, you can speed up the process faster than by doing any other single thing. Goldratt ¹«¾ùÀ» ¹ß°ßÇϸé Á¦¾à ¿ÏÈ¿¡ ´ëÇÑ ±ÍÇÏÀÇ ¸ðµç âÁ¶Àû ¿¡³ÊÁö¿Í °ü½ÉÀÇ ÁýÁß, ±× ¼Óµµ´Â ´Ù¸¥ ¾î´À ´ÜÀÏ ÀÏÀ»º¸´Ù °úÁ¤À» ºü¸£°Ô ÇÒ ¼öÀÖ´Ù.
Let me give you an example. ³ª¿Í ´ç½ÅÀÌ ¿¹·Î µé¾î º¸°Ú´Ù. Let us say that you want to double your income. ¿ì¸®°¡ ÀÚ°íÇÏ¸é ¼ÒµæÀ» µÎ ¹øÇÏ°í ½Í´Ù. What is the critical constraint or the limiting factor that holds you back? ¹«¾ùÀÌ Áß¿äÇÑ Á¦¾à Á¶°Ç ¶Ç´Â Á¦ÇÑ ¿äÀÎÀ» °¡·Î¸·°íÀÖ´Â °ÍÀÌ ¹«¾ùÀΰ¡? Well, you know that your income is a direct reward for the quality and quantity of the services you render to your world. ±Û½ê, ´ç½ÅÀº ±× ¼ÒµæÀÇ Ç°Áú°ú ¼ºñ½ºÀÇ ¾ç°ú ´ç½ÅÀÌ ¼¼»óÀ» ·»´õ¸µ¿¡ ´ëÇÑ Á÷Á¢ÀûÀÎ º¸»óÀÌ´Ù. Whatever field you are in, if you want to double your income, you simply have to double the quality and quantity of what you do for that income. ¸¸¾à ´ç½ÅÀÇ ¼ÒµæÀ» µÎ ¹è·Î ¿øÇÏ´ÂÁö ÇöÀå¿¡¼, ´ç½ÅÀº ´Ü¼øÈ÷ ǰÁú°ú ¼ö·®ÀÌ ¹«½¼ ÀÏÀ»ÇÏ´ÂÁö ±× ¼Òµæ¿¡ ´ëÇÑ ÀÌÁß. A friend of mine is one of the highest-paid commission professionals in the United States. ³» Ä£±¸ Áß Çϳª - ÃÖ°íÀÇ Àü¹®°¡À§¿øÈ¸´Â ¹Ì±¹¿¡¼ Áö±ÞµË´Ï´Ù. One of his goals was to double his income over the next three to five years. ±×ÀÇ ¸ñÇ¥ Áß Çϳª´Â ´ÙÀ½ 3~5³â ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ ¼ÒµæÀ» µÎ ¹øÇß´Ù.
He applied the 80/20 rule to his client base. He found that 20 percent of his clients contributed 80 percent of his profits, and that the amount of time spent on a high-profit client was pretty much the same amount of time spent on a low-profit client. ±×´Â ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ °í°´ ±â¹Ý¿¡ 20ºÐÀÇ 80 ±ÔÄ¢À» Àû¿ëÇß´Ù. ±×´Â ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ °í°´ÀÇ 20 %, 80 %°¡ ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ ÀÌÀÍ, ±×¸®°í ¹ß°ß ±â¿©ÇÑ ±× ´ç½Ã ³ôÀº - ÀÌÀÍÀ» Ŭ¶óÀÌ¾ðÆ®¿¡ ½Ã°£À» º¸³Â´ÙÀÇ °ÅÀÇ µ¿ÀÏÇÑ ±Ý¾×À» ÁöÃâÀÇ ¾çÀ» ³·Àº - ÀÌÀÍ Å¬¶óÀ̾ðÆ®. In other words, he was dividing his time equally over the number of tasks that he does while only 20 percent of those items contributes 80 percent of his results. So he drew a line on his list of clients under those who represented the top 20 percent and then called in other professionals in his industry and very carefully, politely, and strategically handed off the 80 percent of his clients that only represented 20 percent of his business. ±×·¡¼ ±×´Â ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ °í°´ ¸í´Ü¿¡ ±× »ç¶÷°ú »óÀ§ 20 %¿¡ ´ÞÇÑ´Ù ´Ù¸¥ Àü¹®°¡µéÀÌ ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ »ê¾÷¿¡¼ ¸Å¿ì ½ÅÁßÇϰÔ, Á¤ÁßÇÏ°Ô Àüȸ¦ ¹Þ°í, ¼±À» ±ß°í Àü·«ÀûÀ¸·Î ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ °í°´ÀÇ 80 %¿¡¼ 20 %¸¸ÀÌ ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ ¼ÕÀ¸·Î Ç¥Çö ºñÁî´Ï½º. He then put together a profile of his top clients and began looking in the marketplace exclusively for the type of client who fit the profile; in other words, one who could become a major profit contributor to his organization, and whom he in turn could serve with the level of excellence that his clients were accustomed to. ±× ÈÄ ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ ÃÖ°í °í°´ÀÇ ÇÁ·ÎÇÊÀ» ³Ö°í ÇÔ²² ½ÃÀå¿¡¼ µ¶Á¡Àû ÇÁ·ÎÆÄÀÏ¿¡ ¸Â´Â »ç¶÷À» ã´Â °í°´ÀÇ À¯ÇüÀ» ½ÃÀÛÇÏ¸ç ´Ù¸¥ ¸»·ÎÇϸé, ÇÑ »ç¶÷Àº ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ Á¶Á÷¿¡ Å« ÀÌÀÍÀ» Âü¿©ÀÚ, ±×¸®°í µÉ ¼ö Â÷·Ê¿¡ ±×°¡ ¼¶±â´Â ¼ö ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ °í°´¿¡°Ô ÃÖ»óÀÇ ¼öÁØ¿¡ Àͼ÷ÇØÁ® ÀÖ¾ú´Ù. And instead of doubling his income in three to five years, he doubled it in the first year! ´ë½Å 3~5³â ÀÚ½ÅÀÇ ¼ÒµæÀÌ 2 ¹è, ±×°¡ 1 ³â ¾È¿¡ µÎ ¹è·Î!
So what is holding you back? ±×·³ ´ç½ÅÀ» ´Ù½Ã ±¸±ÝÀԴϱî? Is it your level of education or skill? ±³À°À̳ª ±â¼úÀÇ ¼öÁØÀΰ¡? Is it your current occupation or job? ÇöÀçÀÇ Á÷¾÷À̳ª Á÷ÀåÀΰ¡¿ä? Is it your current environment or level of health? ±ÍÇÏÀÇ ÇöÀç ȯ°æÀ̳ª °Ç°ÀÇ ¼öÁØÀΰ¡? Is it the situations that you are in today? ±×°Ô ´ç½ÅÀÇ ¿À´Ã¿¡ÀÖ´Â »óȲÀΰ¡¿ä? What is setting the speed for you achieving your goal? ´ç½ÅÀ» À§ÇØ ¾î¶² ¸ñÇ¥¸¦ ´Þ¼ºÇÏ´Â ¼Óµµ¸¦ ¼³Á¤À̶õ ¹«¾ùÀԴϱî?
Remember, whatever you have learned, you can unlearn. ¹«½¼ ÀÏÀÌÀ־, ´ç½ÅÀÌ ±â¾ï ÀØ´Ù ¼ö ¹è¿ü½À´Ï´Ù. Whatever situation you have gotten yourself into, you can probably get yourself out of. ´ç½ÅÀÌ ¾î¶² »óȲ¿¡ ÀÚ½ÅÀ» µÇ¾úÀ»Áö, ´ç½ÅÀº ¾Æ¸¶ ½º½º·Î ³ª°¥ ¼öÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù. If your real goal is to dream big dreams and to live without limits, you can set this as your standard and compare everything that you do against it. ´ç½ÅÀÇ ÁøÂ¥ ¸ñÇ¥¿Í ²ÞÀÌÀÖ´Ù¸é Å« ²ÞÀ» Á¦ÇѾøÀÌ »ì ¼öÀÖ´Ù, ´ç½ÅÀº Ç¥ÁØÀ¸·Î ¼³Á¤ÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ°í ´ç½ÅÀÌ ±×°ÍÀ» ¹Ý´ë ÇÒ ¸ðµç °ÍÀ» ºñ±³ÇÕ´Ï´Ù.
The three keys to living without limits have always been the same. ÇѰ谡¾ø´Â »ýȰÀº ¾ðÁ¦³ª °°Àº ¼¼ °¡Áö ¿¼è¿Ô´Ù. They are clarity , competence , and concentration . ±×µéÀÇ ÁöÇý·Î¿ò, ´É·Â, ±×¸®°í ÁýÁß·ÂÀÌÀÖ´Ù.
Clarity means that you are absolutely clear about who you are, what you want, and where you¡¯re going. ÁöÇý·Î¿ò¿¡ ´ç½ÅÀÌ Àý´ëÀûÀ¸·Î ´ç½ÅÀÌ ´©±ºÁö¿¡ ´ëÇØ ºÐ¸íÇÑ ¶æ, ³Ê, ±×¸®°í ¿øÇÏ´Â ¾îµð·Î °¡°í ÀÖ´ÂÁö¿ä. You write down your goals and you make plans to accomplish them. ±ÍÇÏÀÇ ¸ñÇ¥¸¦ Àû¾î°ú °èȹµéÀ» ´Þ¼ºÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖµµ·Ï ÇØÁØ´Ù. You set very careful priorities and you do something every day to move you toward your goals. You apply the 80/20 rule to everything you do and you focus on becoming outstanding in the 20 percent of tasks that contribute to 80 percent of your results. As you focus on doing what you love to do and becoming excellent in those few areas that can make a real difference in your life, you begin to think in terms of possibilities rather than impossibilities, and you move ever closer toward the realization of your full potential.
