Marc Allen, an internationally renowned author, reveals in this interview his methods for setting goals and affirmations. Marc is the co-founder (with Shakti Gawain) of New World Library publications and its current president and publisher. He guided the company from a small start-up with no capital to its current position as one of the leading independent publishers in the country, making him a multi-millionaire in the process.
A few excerpts from the video:
“How many people dare to really even dream in the first place of success? And of those that do, how many really define their success and then make a plan on paper how to get there? I did four simple things when I was thirty, just four little steps on that day. I wrote down my ideal scene on one sheet of paper–and this is exactly what I teach today still–then I took another sheet of paper and just wrote goals and I listed all my goals. Then I looked at them, doubts and fears overwhelming me, and then I took another sheet of paper and i wrote my goals as affirmations. To this day I carry around in my pocket my goals as affirmations. I update them about every six months.
“And then the fourth thing I did, for every major goal, over the next few weeks plans started to emerge. As I was affirming these goals, plans will emerge. And so I would take one sheet of paper for each goal, I’d make a one page plan. I knew that was all that was necessary. I knew the important thing was getting my subconscious mind to get behind this idea.
You just need to affirm enough so that your subconscious mind gets ahold of it and runs with it.
“People keep asking when I get into all these affirmations, how much should I affirm, how often do I affirm. Well, I’m totally lazy. Days go by and I don’t affirm anything. But then if something comes up, if there’s a stressful thing that happens, then I’ll immediately affirm… in an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, I’m now creating whatever it is in this particular situation. You just need to affirm enough so that your subconscious mind gets ahold of it and runs with it. That’s the important thing. There’s no magic number.”
I think the concept of using your goals as affirmations is a great technique, as you’re providing your subconscious with more specific information about what you really want. What do you think? Please share your thoughts below.
